Edison Robot Zoo

Instructions (Part I): Look at the top of your Edison Robot and try to find all of the parts labeled in the picture below.

Instructions (Part II): Look at the bottom of your Edison Robot and try to find all of the parts labeled in the picture below.

Instructions (Part III): Watch the below video and follow along with your robot.

Instructions (Part IV): Watch the below video to learn how to program your Edison Robot using barcodes.

Instructions (Part V): Experiment with the barcodes in your handout, ensuring that your Edison robot is capable of running each loaded barcode.

Programming the Edison

Instructions (Part I): Watch the below video to learn how to program your Edison Robot directly using the EdScratch programming language.

Instructions (Part II): Click here to to access the EdScratch programming environment. Using what you learned in “Part I” load and implement the demo codes in EdScratch. See the screenshots below for access assistance. Reflect on how the output of your Edison Robot relates to the structure of each code.

Instructions (Part III): The below screenshot shows the first “demo” code from the previous activity. Write and modify the below code to perform different movements and outputs of your choice. Consider changing the “repeat” frequency, movement direction, speed, LED behavior, etc.

Instructions (Part IV):  Using your code from “Part III” as a foundation, create, write, and implement a 30 second robot “Dance Routine”. Your routine should include varying direction, speed, output, and any other dance “moves” you can imagine. As an extra challenge, reflect on the demo programs and try to incorporate a “light” controlled aspect to your robot’s routine.

Instructions (Part V): Record a video of your dance routine and share it below. Type your first name in the “Subject” area.  A QR code is provided below for ease of upload.

Robot Animals?!?

Instructions (Part I):  Using the below images as inspiration, and your expansion kit for materials, attach a structure to your Robot that allows it to securely support a pen or brush.

Instructions (Part II): Watch the below video to observe how your Robot can be transformed into an elephant!

Biomimicry Elephant Robotics Code

Instructions (Part III): Using the above video as inspiration, write and implement a code that commands your robot to mimic an animal. This will take tinkering with the code, so be patient and keep at it!

Instructions (Part IV): Record a video of your robot as an animal. Type your first name in the “Subject” area.  A QR code is provided below for ease of upload.
