Pitch Your Car Shark Tank Style

Shark Tank Innovation Challenge: Pitch Your Solution!

Beyond engineering for distance, you’ll now step into the role of engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs to create a rubber band-powered vehicle that addresses a real-world need. Get ready to pitch your invention in a Shark Tank-style challenge! Each team will be choose a real-world design prompt to guide their innovation:

Design Prompts:

  1. Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle: Design a car that can transport a small object (representing a person in a wheelchair) safely and efficiently, demonstrating ease of access.

  2. Rough Terrain Vehicle: Create a car capable of traversing uneven surfaces or small obstacles (e.g., crumpled paper) while maintaining stability.

  3. Environmental Cleanup Vehicle: Design a car that can collect small pieces of “pollution” as it moves, demonstrating a method for environmental aid.

  4. Emergency Response Vehicle: Build a car that can deliver a small “aid package” to a designated, hard-to-reach area.

  5. Autonomous Delivery Vehicle: Design a car that can carry a small payload and deliver it to a specific target spot with precision.

  6. Agricultural Aid Vehicle: Create a car that can simulate planting seeds or distributing fertilizer over a marked area.

  7. Mars Rover Prototype: Design a vehicle meant to explore a simulated extraterrestrial landscape, focusing on durability and obstacle navigation.

  8. Sustainable Materials Vehicle: Construct a car using additional recycled or natural materials beyond those provided while still meeting the core requirements.

  9. Cargo Transport Vehicle: Design a car optimized to carry the maximum possible small “cargo” over a set distance.

  10. Urban Commuter Vehicle: Build a compact and efficient car designed for navigating tight spaces and making turns, mimicking urban travel.

Crafting Your Pitch 🎤

Think about how to present your chosen project in an exciting and persuasive way. Here’s a guide to help you structure your pitch (aim for a 3-5 minute presentation):

  1. The “Hook” (30 seconds):

    • What is your project? Clearly and briefly introduce it.
    • What problem does it solve or what cool thing does it do? Grab our attention!
  2. The “Wow” Factor (1-2 minutes):

    • Show and Tell: Demonstrate your project!
    • How does it work? Explain the science or technology. What did you discover, create, or improve?
    • What makes it unique or innovative? What’s special about your design, approach, or recent refinements?
  3. The “So What?” (1 minute):

    • Why is it important or interesting?
    • Who would benefit from this or be interested in it?
    • What are its potential real-world applications or future possibilities?
  4. The “Closing” (30 seconds):

    • Summarize your main point.
    • End with a strong statement that leaves us impressed!

Presentation Pointers ✨

  • Be enthusiastic!
  • Speak clearly.
  • Use visuals (your project is the star!).
  • Practice your pitch.
  • Have fun!

Materials for Pitching:

  • Your STEM project.
  • Any notes or cue cards for your pitch.
  • Optional: Poster board, markers, or other simple visual aids if you want to create them during your refinement time.

Let’s get those creative gears turning, first with refining and then with pitching! We can’t wait to see what you come up with. 🌟
