Day 3: Weather Navigation

STEP 1: Your next mission is to fly through a simulated Martian weather event. The hula hoop in front of you represents a rare calm zone in the middle of a powerful storm. To make it through safely, you must take off from base, fly around the right side of the hoop, pass through the center, and exit out the left—tracing an “S” pattern. Then, turn around and repeat the same pattern on your return to base. This is the only stable path through the storm. Precision and control are critical—don’t get blown off course! Use the image of the hula hoop obstacle below to help plan your flight path. Good luck, pilot!

STEP 2: In this next challenge, the Martian storm has intensified. The wind is now so extreme that it’s unavoidable—you’ll have to face it head-on. The fans in front of the hula hoop represent this powerful weather system. Your task is simple but bold: fly directly into the heart of the storm, pass straight through the center of the hula hoop, and then return safely to base. There’s no fancy path this time—just power, precision, and control. See the image below for an example of the setup, and start planning your flight.

STEP 3: You accomplished a lot during this challenge and likely picked up some new skills for flying through complicated terrain. To close out this mission, take one final victory loop through the hula hoop—any flight path you choose.
