Watch the video: Start by watching this video and this video to see how a Scribbling Robot performs its task. Pay close attention to how the motor and markers create the movement and patterns.
Gather your materials: Refer to this image (also shown above).
Set up your workspace: Clear a flat surface and gather all your materials. Have a large piece of white paper ready to place on the ground later.
Build the body: Attach the markers to the foam pool noodle using rubber bands. The markers will act as the legs of your robot. Make sure the markers are evenly spaced around the foam.
Attach the motor: Tape the motor securely to the top of the foam pool noodle. Ensure the motor is stable and positioned in a way that its vibrations can move the robot.
Connect the power: Attach the battery pack to the foam using tape, keeping it close to the motor. Connect the wires from the motor to the battery pack.
Test the robot: Turn on the motor by switching on the battery pack. Observe how the Scribbling Robot moves. Adjust the markers or motor placement if needed to ensure it can move and create patterns.
Add your paper: Lay a large piece of white paper on the ground. Place your Scribbling Robot on the paper and watch as it scribbles unique patterns.
Experiment and customize: Adjust the marker positions or try different motor placements to see how the patterns change.
Capture your creation: If you have a device, take a picture or video to share.
