Add 1/2 Tablespoon of baking soda to the mixing bowl.
Pour in 1/4 cup of water and stir gently until the baking soda dissolves.
Add 2 cups of shaving cream to the bowl and gently fold it into the mixture with a spoon or spatula.
Measure 1 1/2 tablespoons of contact solution, pour it into the bowl, and stir gently until the mixture starts to come together.
Add a few drops of food coloring or glow-in-the-dark powder if you want, and stir until the color is even.
Pour in 2/3 cup of white glue and stir until the mixture turns into a slime-like consistency.
Knead the foam with your hands until it feels stretchy and less sticky. If it’s sticky, add a few drops of contact solution and keep kneading.
Add extra items like iron dust (for magnetic foam) or foam balls (for texture) or even glow-in-the-dark powder if you want.
Enjoy your foam lava! Squish, stretch, and shape it. Store it in an airtight container or bag when you’re done.
Part II: Making Slime Lava
Instructions:
Pour 6 oz (3/4 cup) of glue into the mixing bowl.
Add 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda to the glue and stir well until fully mixed.
If desired, add a few drops of food coloring or glow-in-the-dark powder and mix until the color is even.
Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of contact solution to the mixture and stir until it starts to thicken and pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Use your hands to knead the slime until it becomes stretchy and less sticky. If it’s sticky, add small amounts of contact solution (a few drops at a time) and keep kneading.
If you want, knead in iron dust for magnetic slime or foam beads or glow-in-the-dark powder after the slime is fully formed.
Enjoy your slime lava! Stretch, squish, and enjoy. Store it in an airtight container or bag to keep it fresh.
Part III: Making a Volcano
Instructions:
Use the Model Magic clay to build a volcano around the small container or cup, leaving the top open to pour in the ingredients later.
Lay down paper towels or a tray under your volcano to catch any mess.
Put 2-3 teaspoons of baking soda into the small container or cup inside the volcano. If you’d like colorful lava, add a few drops of food coloring to the baking soda.
Slowly pour 1/4 cup of vinegar into the container with the baking soda. Watch your volcano erupt with bubbling “lava”!
You can do the eruption again by adding more baking soda and vinegar
Use the “lava” foam and/or slime to decorate your volcano! Let the streaks of “lava” run down the sides to make it look realistic.
Use paper towels to wipe up spills and keep your workspace tidy.
If you have a device, take a picture or video of your volcano and its eruption to share.
