STEP 1: Now that you’ve made your own simple circuit, it’s time to explore the Makey Makey circuit. Just like the button in your previous circuit, Makey Makey uses the natural conductivity of your body to complete a circuit. But instead of lighting an LED, it lets you control a computer using any conductive object. Watch the video below to learn how Makey Makey works.
STEP 2: Gather your Makey Makey kit, a computer, a USB adapter (if needed), and various conductive materials like copper tape or aluminum foil. Then, watch the videos below to set up and test your Makey Makey circuits. Click here for access to various interfaces where you can test your MakeyMakey.
STEP 3:Using what you learned in Steps 1 and 2, design your own Makey Makey circuit that controls something on your computer. Your circuit must include at least 4 keys and at least 2 different types of conductive materials—such as human skin, water, aluminum foil, or anything else that conducts electricity. Be creative! When finished, record a video showing your MakeyMakey circuit in action and upload it using the QR code below. In the “Subject” area, include your first name and/or your team members’ names.
