  • Great attitudes
  • Drones -decorated and designed for your challenge
  • Optional: Crafting materials (cardboard, tape, etc.) for building simple models

Activity 1: The Innovation Challenge

Your mission is to brainstorm and develop a new and exciting application for drones. In your small groups, choose one of the following three challenges to tackle.

A. Design a Drone Sport

  • Objective: Create the next great sport!
  • Think about:
    • What are the rules and how do you win?
    • Is it a race, a skill-based challenge, or a team game?
    • How many drones and players are involved?
    • What does the playing field look like?
    • How can you make it safe and fun for spectators to watch?

B. Pitch a Drone Business 💼

  • Objective: Develop a business idea that uses drones to provide a service or product.
  • Think about:
    • What problem can you solve in your community? (e.g., super-fast delivery, unique photography services, or inspecting hard-to-reach places).
    • Who are your customers?
    • What is a simple way your business could make money?

C. Drones for Good – Community Solutions ❤️

  • Objective: Use drones to make a positive impact on a local or global issue.
  • Think about:
    • How can drones help your community or the world? (e.g., monitoring the health of local parks, helping find lost pets, or delivering supplies to community gardens).
    • What specific problem are you addressing?
    • Who would benefit from your drone solution?

Activity 2: Develop and Showcase Your Idea

Once your team has chosen a challenge, it’s time to bring your vision to life!

  1. Brainstorm & Plan: Use your whiteboards and sticky notes to flesh out your idea. Think through all the details of your sport, business, or community solution.
  2. Create a Pitch: Prepare a short (3-5 minute) presentation to share your innovative concept with the class. Your pitch should be clear, exciting, and persuasive. Consider making a poster or even a simple model to help explain your idea.
  3. Present Your Future: Each group will present their project. Be prepared to answer questions and explain what makes your idea unique and powerful.
