Day 1: Micro-controllers & Port Tech

Local Career Spotlight: Zero-Emission EV Technicians. The Port of Los Angeles is transitioning to a 100% zero-emission fleet by 2030. Local technicians are needed to maintain the micro-controllers, sensors, and battery systems inside the new electric cargo trucks operating right here in Wilmington. News Article Link.

Instructions (Part I): Get to know your micro:bit. Navigate to the Get Started with Micro:bit and MakeCode tutorial. Complete a few introductory activities to understand how to write and download code to your board.

Instructions (Part II): Begin assembling your Cyber:bot chassis. Follow the Build Your Cyber:bot guide carefully. Work with your partner to ensure nuts are tight and wires are cleanly tucked away.

Instructions (Part III): Before leaving, double-check your build against another team’s bot. Did you both put the breadboard at the front and the white tail wheel at the back? Unplug your battery packs!
