Make Your Cyber:bot Smarter

Career Spotlight: Robotics Technician

Robotics technicians test, adjust, and improve robots so they can respond correctly in real environments.

Today’s Mission

Bring your Cyber:bot back to life and make it respond in a smarter way.

Success Today

By the end of class, your team should be able to:

  • get your robot moving again
  • test one smart behavior
  • improve your robot through testing

Today’s Flow

  • Launch
  • Reconnect with your robot
  • Test a smart behavior
  • Improve it
  • Quick share
  • Career video
  • Clean up

Main Challenge

Bring Back Your Cyber:bot and Make It Smarter

Your team will:

  • get your robot ready
  • test movement
  • add one new smart behavior
  • improve it through testing

Steps

  1. Get your Cyber:bot and materials.
  2. Check that it is ready to use.
  3. Open your movement code in MakeCode.
  4. Test basic movement.
  5. Add one smart behavior.
  6. Test it.
  7. Improve it.

Smart Behavior Ideas

Try one of these:

  • shake to start
  • button A starts movement
  • button B stops movement
  • show an icon before moving
  • react to tilt
  • send a signal before moving

Level Up

If your robot is working, try:

  • combining movement and a signal
  • adding a second smart behavior
  • making your robot more accurate
  • making the user controls clearer

If You Get Stuck

Check:

  • Is your robot connected?
  • Does it move at all?
  • Does your code download correctly?
  • What happened when you tested?
  • What is one small change you can try?

Quick Share

Be ready to share:

  • what smart behavior your robot can do
  • one problem you solved
  • one thing you improved

Sentence Starters

  • Our robot can now…
  • One problem we solved was…
  • We improved it by…

Clean Up

  • save your work
  • unplug batteries
  • return materials neatly

Wrap Up

Today you brought your Cyber:bot back to life and made it respond in a smarter way.
